Who owns what here, what you may reuse freely, and how to ask for the rest.

This page sets out who owns the material on criticalthinkingexercise.org, what you may do with it without asking, and how to request permission for anything else.

It also explains how to report material that you believe infringes your own copyright.

Ownership of site content

Unless a different source is credited on the page, all original material on this site is copyright Tajammal Maqbool. That covers exercise questions, answer options, explanations, lesson text, page copy, and original illustrations.

The site name, wordmark, layout, and visual design are also the property of the operator. Copyright is asserted from the date each page was first published.

What you may do without asking

This is an educational site, and normal educational use is welcome. Without asking permission you may:

  • link to any page from anywhere, including social media;
  • quote a short excerpt, with attribution and a link back to the original page;
  • use exercises with your own students in a classroom or training session, provided the source is credited and nothing is charged for the material itself;
  • cite the site in coursework, a dissertation, or a paper using normal academic citation;
  • print a page for your own study.

Attribution should name the site and link to the page you used.

What requires permission

Written permission is needed before you:

  • republish an exercise or lesson in full on another website;
  • include the material in a product, app, or course that you sell;
  • translate substantial parts of the site into another language for publication;
  • redistribute the original illustrations separately from the page they appear on;
  • bulk-copy or scrape the site, whether for a dataset, a mirror, or a derivative work.

How to request permission

Email contact@criticalthinkingexercise.org and describe what you want to use, where it will appear, and who the audience is.

Requests from teachers, non-profit programmes, and public libraries are usually granted, and usually quickly. Commercial requests are considered case by case. Asking is free and the answer is rarely no.

Third-party material on this site

Some pages quote or reference work owned by others. Research findings, book titles, and named studies remain the property of their authors and publishers, and are credited on the page where they appear.

Quotations are kept short and used for commentary, criticism, and teaching. If you own material referenced here and want the credit changed or the reference removed, write to us and we will sort it out.

Reporting an infringement of your work

If you believe material on this site infringes a copyright you own or represent, email contact@criticalthinkingexercise.org with the subject line Copyright notice.

Please include:

  • a description of the work you say has been infringed;
  • the URL on this site where the material appears;
  • evidence that you own the rights, or authority to act for the owner;
  • your name and a working contact address;
  • a statement that you believe the use is not authorised by the rights holder or by law.

Valid notices are acted on promptly. Material is removed or corrected while the claim is reviewed, and you will be told what was done.

If material was removed in error

If your material was removed or altered after a notice and you believe that was a mistake, write to the same address explaining why. Include the URL, the material affected, and the basis of your claim. Where a removal turns out to have been wrong, the material is restored.

Automated collection and reuse

Reading this site with a browser, a screen reader, or an assistive agent is welcome. Bulk automated collection for republishing, resale, or dataset building is not permitted without written permission, and is covered by the prohibited-conduct clause in the Terms and Conditions.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as the site grows. The version on this page is always current, and the effective date above shows when it last changed. Permission already granted in writing is not withdrawn by a later update.
