What the exercises and lessons on this site are, and what they are not.
Everything on Critical Thinking Exercise exists to help you practise recognising reasoning patterns. That covers the exercises, lessons, category pages, and audience pages.
It is practice material. It is not a professional service, and it is not a substitute for one.

General information only
The content on this site is published for general educational and informational purposes. It is written for a broad audience and cannot account for your circumstances.
Nothing here creates a professional relationship of any kind between you and the site or its author. Reading a lesson does not make you a client, a patient, or a student in any formal programme.
Not professional advice
Nothing on this site is medical, legal, financial, or psychological advice. This holds even where an exercise is written for a specific audience, such as nursing students or managers.
Those pages illustrate how reasoning errors appear in a given field. They are not clinical, legal, or financial guidance. Always consult a qualified professional before making a real decision in any regulated area.
If you are facing a medical emergency, contact your local emergency service. Do not rely on anything published here.
Scenarios, case studies, and named examples
Some exercises reference real people, companies, or events to make a reasoning pattern concrete. Examples include the Apollo 13 mission, the early growth of well-known companies, and published research findings.
These references exist to illustrate the pattern being taught. They are not investigative claims about the people or organisations involved. They should not be read as a complete or independently verified account of what happened.
Many scenarios are invented outright. Where a case is fictional, any resemblance to a real person or organisation is coincidental.
Accuracy, sources, and corrections
Claims that rest on research are checked against primary sources. The standard for that work is described in full on the Methodology page.
Even so, errors happen. Research also moves on, so a finding that was solid when a page was written may later be revised or overturned.
If you find an error, the fastest way to get it fixed is to email contact@criticalthinkingexercise.org with the page and the specific claim. The Complaints page explains what happens next.
No guarantee of results
Practising these exercises is designed to sharpen reasoning skill. It does not guarantee any particular outcome.
No test score, admission result, job offer, promotion, or real-world decision is promised or implied by using this site. Deliberate practice improves your odds. It does not remove judgement from the equation, and results vary from person to person.
External links
The Resources page and various lessons link to external books, articles, and courses that we do not control. We are not responsible for their content, availability, or accuracy. A link is not an endorsement of everything the source has published, and external material may change without notice.
No affiliation or endorsement
Naming an author, institution, publication, or company on this site does not imply any partnership, sponsorship, or endorsement in either direction. Trade marks and names referenced in exercises remain the property of their respective owners, and are used only to describe or illustrate a point.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site operator accepts no liability for loss or damage arising from reliance on anything published here. This includes decisions made on the basis of an exercise, a lesson, or a linked source. The full liability terms appear on the Terms and Conditions page.
Changes to this disclaimer
This disclaimer may be updated as the site grows and as its content changes. The version on this page is always current, and the effective date above shows when it last changed.
